“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”

― Nikola Tesla

Every work of art is first and foremost and expression of its medium. I view sound as the simplest material component of music, and by removing sound objects from musical contexts, I am able to consider sound explore sound between the scopes of music and utility.

Sound energy results from vibrations in objects or substances. When a force causes an object to vibrate, the energy from that vibration travels through the object in waves. These sound waves can be heard by living things, as long as they have a frequency between 16 Hertz and 20,000 Hertz, and can often be felt outside of this range.

This piece was premiered by The Playground Ensemble in Colorado Springs, Colorado (the home of Tesla's laboratory).
